*Friend must register a Starbucks Card and opt-in to receive email from Starbucks to get a free drink.

A maximum of 2 referrals per day and 8 per month are eligible to receive Stars

Fill out the information in this widget and click “Share.” You can share via email as well as Social Media (Facebook and Twitter). When you share, a unique link will be generated. This unique link is how we make sure you get your Bonus Star rewards.  

When your friends click on the unique link, they will receive an invitation with instructions on how to join Starbucks Rewards and redeem their special discount offer (if any). In order for you to receive Bonus Stars, your friends:

  1. Cannot be existing members of Starbucks Rewards;
  2. Cannot have unsubscribed from receiving promotional email messages from Starbucks in the case of a referral via email;
  3. Must complete the Starbucks Rewards registration process; and
  4. Must provide a valid email address in order to receive special offers and discounts in connection with the Program.

You will receive an email with a redemption code for your Bonus Stars (“Redemption Codes”) approximately seven (7) days after each friend successfully completes the Starbucks Rewards registration process. To receive your Bonus Stars, follow the instructions for entering your redemption code.  You can redeem a maximum of eight (8) Redemption Codes per month and a maximum of two Redemption Codes per day.  You will not be eligible to earn Bonus Stars for any completed referral above this limit.

Please note that the Refer A Friend invitation must clearly state that you are eligible to receive a reward from Starbucks if your friend joins Starbucks Rewards. If you do not clearly state this, it is a violation of these Program Terms & Conditions and may result in your immediate termination from the Program, disqualification from future participation, and forfeiture of any reward owed to you as a result of your participation in this Program.

Starbucks and its Program service providers reserve the right to delay, cancel, revoke, or prevent rewards in any suspected case of fraudulent use or misuse of Starbucks services or this Program. Rewards are subject to verification at Starbucks sole discretion.

Our Heritage

Every day, we go to work hoping to do two things: share great coffee with our friends and help make the world a little better. It was true when the first Starbucks opened in 1971, and it’s just as true today.

Back then, the company was a single store in Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market. From just a narrow storefront, Starbucks offered some of the world’s finest fresh-roasted whole bean coffees. The name, inspired by Moby Dick, evoked the romance of the high seas and the seafaring tradition of the early coffee traders.

In 1981, Howard Schultz (Starbucks chairman and chief executive officer) had first walked into a Starbucks store. From his first cup of Sumatra, Howard was drawn into Starbucks and joined a year later.

In 1983, Howard traveled to Italy and became captivated with Italian coffee bars and the romance of the coffee experience. He had a vision to bring the Italian coffeehouse tradition back to the United States. A place for conversation and a sense of community. A third place between work and home. He left Starbucks for a short period of time to start his own Il Giornale coffeehouses and returned in August 1987 to purchase Starbucks with the help of local investors.

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection.
